This is how the last 14 days look like in Julian Alps. Warm, clear, colorful.

For us geologist mountains aren’t just beautiful. We see and feel things that most people don’t. On this photo I see layers of limenstone rock inclined to the left (actually to NW) and I can imagine ancient oceans. I see a big rockfall on the left peak, caused by earthquake. There is also an old rockfall on a saddle between the two peaks. I can see a fault on the left peak and folds on the mountain in the background.

Mountains are an open book of a geological history. So when you are next time in the mountains take a break and read a chapter or two smile emoticon
